Fans rave about B&M’s £25 cube-shaped air coolers

Budget retail chain B&M has stocked what may be the most necessary gadget of the summer.

In response to the blistering heat, it is selling the Air Cooler Cube by Blaupunkt for £25. The cooler cube is provides 'up to eight hours of cool air', as well as an option to humidify to offer chilly conditions.

Other features include two 300ml freezable water tanks, three speed settings to control the temperature, seven coloured LED mood lights, a machine washable filter, 1.5 m USB cable and a main adapter.

On Instagram, B&M’s official social media account has posted a Reel of the cooler cubes in store, alongside the caption: “Hands up if you need one of these right now! #heatwave #bmstores #bmhaul #cooling #summer #summerready #heatwave #reelsinstagram”

Fans of B&M flocked to the comments section to praise the cooler, with others also tagging loved ones to hurriedly grab one in shops. One user jokingly commented: “One for each boob!” along with a laughing emoji. A second added: “I need one so I’m going to my nearest store.”

A third added: “Bought three of these yesterday, so needed in this heat” with a fire emoji, while a fourth chimed in: “I definitely need one of these - 35 weeks pregnant in this heat”

But there were other users who expressed concerns. One user explained: “These are not very effective. Air is not cold.” While a second agreed by writing: “Not for £25 I don’t, I can get that on eBay for £10 if not less.”

A third said: “They are only good if you literally sit right in front of it. And the ice pack unfreezes very quickly. I only had it for three weeks before I went out and bought a £300 air conditioning unit!”

And a fourth user put forth the following question: “@bmstores Would you be willing to donate some fans to be shared around to the various children’s wards at Southampton Children’s Hospital? They are crying out for them like a sauna up on the kids’ wards and paediatric emergency dept.”
