A new Channel 4 comedy filmed around Manchester is winning fans. Everyone Else Burns was released last month and stars Simon Bird, of The Inbetweeners and Friday Night Dinner.
He plays David, the father of a Mancunian family who are part of a fictional Christian community preparing for Armageddon. The family is eager to avoid eternal damnation, although worldly temptations sometimes get in the way.
The show was filmed last year around Manchester as well as Northwich, Cheshire, where the Grade II-listed Plaza is an iconic landmark. Viewers have been quick to spot Manchester on display throughout the series, which is available in full on All4.

In the first outdoor scene, the family can be seen fleeing home for the end of the world, rushing along a cobbled city centre street in Manchester. As a car speeds past in the opposite direction, David tells his family: "Probably a sinner fleeing the hellfire - he'll be struck down before he reaches Stockport."
Viewers have praised the series on social media, with many being quick to spot Manchester in the background. @JoeWritesThings wrote: "Everyone Else Burns on All4 is hilarious. And very much Manchester-based with a really funny Ancoats nod in the last ep."
@brihall71 said: "Been watching "Everyone Else Burns" on Channel 4 - with Simon Bird - it's set and filmed in Manchester but I can't say where exactly... It's very funny though"
@omointhislife added: "Everyone Else Burns is such a great series. Binged watched it over the weekend. Simon Bird is 3 for 3.. every single channel 4 comedy he has appeared has been unreal. The inbetweeners, Friday night dinner and now everyone else burns. What an actor."
And @Timelord_Ernie put simply: "Everyone Else Burns is such a good tv show. That’s it. that’s the tweet."
Greater Manchester choirs Chorlton Sings and Alty Voices also feature in the sixth episode of the series. Viant Siddique, a choir member from Didsbury, said: "It was such a great opportunity for the choir to be a part of. Seeing the creative process and being around such a talented bunch was inspiring."
The series also stars Kate O’Flynn, Amy James-Kelly and Harry Connor as the rest of the family. Everyone Else Burns airs on Monday nights on Channel 4, while the series is available in full on All4.
