Fans point out problem with Real Housewives star Tanya Bardsley's new perfume as she's forced to explain

Tanya Bardsley was thrilled as she announced her latest venture eight months after quitting the Real Housewives of Cheshire. The reality star, who left the ITVBe show after six years, took to Instagram on Wednesday (August 10) to share the big reveal - but it wasn't all as it seems.

She confirmed that she was set to released her very own fragrance alongside a bunch of glamourous snaps. Tanya, 41, looked flawless in the images as she donned a black dress and pearls with her blonde locks styled into waves and flipped over to one side of her face.

" Can finally tell you that our special shoot was for my brand new fragrance," she penned alongside the post before revealing the very bizarre name choice - Chien. She added: "So excited for you to smell it, it smells like a dream."

And fans were quick to comment and point out an issue with the choice of name, pointing out that Chien is French for 'dog'. @ambassador_alexa commented: "That’s 'Dog' in French… I’m sure it smells fabulous, as you are fabulous but that’s an odd name for a perfume." @helen_jaa01 echoed: "Congratulations !! The names a bit [grimicing face emoji] but am sure it’ll smell amazing!"

@misshitch1 asked: "So confused by the name - am I missing something here?" @_marie.watson_ said: "Why the name 'Dog' for a perfume, could of come up with something better?" @langtreecottage wrote: "Bit confused by the name, meaning dog in French????" @belindaheaney added: "AAAGGHH NO CHEIN IS DOG IN FRENCH....I was so excited for you Tanya then seen comments...was so hoping they were mistaken."

There was, however, also a lot of support. Lystra Adams, who is still appearing in the Real Housewives, commented: "Congratulations hun so proud of you," while Kerry Katona added a string of red heart emojis. Real Housewife and Forever Unique owner Seema Malhotra also wrote: "Congratulations Tanya."

But it turns out it all wasn't as it seems. Returning to Instagram today (Thursday), Tanya posted a fresh photo from the shoot but this time including a four-legged friend.

"Yesterday you may have seen that I teased my new scent, ‘Chien’..., but I am actually excited to reveal that the ‘launch’ is part of a campaign I have been working on to raise awareness for @missingpeople.uk and its Search Dog Heroes project," Tanya, who is married to Burnley footballer husband Phil, revealed.

"Funded by @peoplespostcodelottery and in partnership with @lowlandrescue, the project trains and qualifies new ground-scenting search dogs which are on-hand to assist police in the search for vulnerable people who go missing. However, preparation is always key and we encourage anyone who is caring for a loved one with dementia, learning disabilities or mental health problems to capture the scent of their loved one in the event that someone you love goes missing."

And fans were quick to applaud her. @ezzie788 said: "Good job @tanyabardsley7." @rumpusresort commented: "You’re always surprising - never disappointing, this is brilliant." @meemu28 wrote: "Ahhhh. Great promotion for a worthy cause. You had us all wondering!"

@sadiana_sa replied: "That's brilliant Tanya love it." @lifetechniques_ shared: "You have an incredible heart Tanya always supporting charities." @shar.d1978 added: "This is such a great idea, congrats on the new project."

In December she was in tears as announced that she had to take 'a step back' from the show after 14 series because of her health. The Real Housewives of Cheshire favourite, one of the original cast of the ITVBe reality series, was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, a condition that affects people's behaviour, last year after suffering years of anxiety.

Tanya was emotional as she made the announcement that she was leaving during the reunion episode in a chat with host Brian Dowling. "I'm having to take a step back from the show which I'm gutted about because I absolutely love the show," she told Brian.

"And I love the crew, the crew are like family to me, and some of the girls not all of them," she joked. She explained: "So I've just decided to go back to having ADHD. I've come off the pills. I'm still learning how to navigate and stuff like that. So I'm just going to be stepping back from Housewives and being the number one fan."
