Fans offer comical responses to TV channel's Dion Charles gaffe

Dion Charles made a name for himself after scoring two goals in Northern Ireland's 2-0 win over San Marino.

And one TV channel made up a completely new one for the Bolton Wanderers striker.

Charles was the toast of Serravalle with his two-goal salvo as Michael O'Neill kicked off his new reign with an important Euro qualifying win.

The 27-year-old was also named man of the match, meaning it was nailed on he would have a raft of media commitments after the match.

One was an interview with Viaplay Sports, who are showing all of Northern Ireland's Euro qualifying games live.

They grabbed a word with Charles moments after his impressive display, but somehow managed to throw up a caption which read 'FirstName LastName'.

Many fans noticed the comical gaffe, including journalist Marcus Leroux who tweeted: "First two international goals. Remember the name."

Julian added: "Mr and Mrs Secondname must be so proud of their boy tonight."

Pat's Football Blog tweeted: "Makes a change from AN Other, I suppose."

David joked: "So good they didn’t bother naming him at all."

Mark said: "One of the Aughnacloy Secondnames I believe."

Grace tweeted: "Imagine if he'd been called Secondname Firstname - that'd be REALLY confusing for everyone!!"

And Brian said: "I think it's Irish Gaelic."
