Fans honour Elton John by wearing quirky sunglasses and costumes to Liverpool gig

Elton John has returned to Liverpool for two nights of musical magic at the M&S Bank Arena, and people were keen to pay tribute to him through their outfits.

Sir Elton John is no stranger to elaborate and innovative fashion choices, so it was no surprise to see so many of his fans seemingly taking inspiration from the legendary musician.

In 2018, the entertainer confirmed plans to embark on a three year farewell tour - titled Farewell Yellow Brick Road - after 50 years on stage. Famed for his boujee sunglasses, feather boas, sequin and rhinestone-clad flares, and more, Sir Elton teamed up with Gucci's former creative director Alessandro Michele to ensure his wardrobe on tour would be as fabulous and flashy as audiences have come to expect.

This week's performances were originally slated for April, but were rescheduled to accommodate the arena's Eurovision Song Contest commitments. This Thursday evening (March 23), fans were equally keen to showcase their bold fashion choices.

The doors to the M&S Bank Arena opened at 6pm, with the show kicking off at 7.30pm.

Many took inspiration from the outfits the star has made famous throughout his career, with quirky sunglasses, sequins, and vibrant hats aplenty. Take a look through our photo gallery for some of the best outfits spotted at Elton John's M&S Bank Arena gig.
