For the 24 players invited to attend the NBA draft in the green room, Thursday is a huge night for them. It was already going to be the biggest night of their professional lives thus far, but when you’re at the draft in person, it’s the ultimate first impression for an NBA career.
That’s where the draft-night suit comes in. And if we were drafting solely off suits, former Duke star Paolo Banchero would deserve the No. 1 pick.
Banchero showed up to the Barclays Center rocking a purple suit that boldly had actual diamonds attached throughout. It takes a confident person to pull off this suit, and man, Banchero just oozes confidence.
We’ve come a long way since the 2003 NBA draft fits — that’s for sure.
Still, if you’re going to wear a diamond-studded purple suit out in public, you should be prepared for the jokes. And NBA Twitter did not disappoint there.
