Fans disagree with one Andy Farrell decision for England v Ireland in Six Nations

A number of Ireland fans disagreed with Andy Farrell's decision not to include Mack Hansen in his 23-man squad to face England.

Ireland travel to London for a massive showdown with Eddie Jones' side at Twickenham this weekend.

Farrell named his squad for the game on Thursday morning, making six changes to the team that defeated Italy last time out.

Johnny Sexton has been restored to the starting XV, with prop Cian Healy to make his first start of this year’s tournament, in place of the injured Andrew Porter, while Hugo Keenan, Andrew Conway, Bundee Aki and James Ryan also return.

But there was no room in the squad for Hansen, who is not injured and whose omission is purely a selection call.

Some fans took to social media to vent their frustration with the decision not to include the Connacht wing.

One tweeted: "Mack Hansen misses out on the 23 to play England, very strange decision."

Another said: "Cannot understand why Mack Hansen isn’t it this squad, unless it’s injury related. Gutted for Ryan Baird who has been phenomenal, Craig Casey should be on that bench. For me he should be Ireland 2nd choice scrum half. A bit disappointed in this team."

Someone else posted: "Wow. Mack Hansen doesn't make Irish squad."

But others could understand the Hansen call.

One fan commented: "I'm not outraged Mack Hansen is out of the squad.

Another tweet read: "Tough on the likes of Mack Hansen, Michael Lowry, James Hume & Ryan Baird, but they now have first-hand knowledge of just how high Ireland are setting the bar."
