Tearful Adele dedicates BRIT Award to ex-husband and son as she scoops 3 gongs

Adele 's BRITs performance tonight has gone down as the best in the coveted awards ceremony's history.

The 33-year-old hit-maker wowed in a beautiful gold gown as she sat on the edge of a piano, flanked by a small band and her backup singers, for her performance of I Drink Wine.

Following her stellar live performance, her adoring admirers flocked to Twitter to shower her with endless praise and admiration after she tearfully dedicated her third award to her ex-husband Simon Konecki and their son, Angelo, 9.

"I'd like to dedicate this award to my son, and to Simon, to his dad. My son has been so patient and so gracious," Adele gushed.

And her stunning tribute went down a treat with her adoring fans.

"Adele turned the #BRITs into her own concert as she should," one wrote.

A second added: "Stunning performance by Adele. She was such a queen to dedicate it to her ex-husband."

A third fan wrote: "Adele is the Queen of the #Brits," with a fourth sharing: "Adele carrying the brits #BRITs."

"The best performance in the history of the Brits if you ask me. And that tribute was amazing" someone else gushed.

"Honestly, Adele is the greatest singer to ever emerge from the UK. She's literally a living icon," someone else penned.

Earlier in the night, Adele took home the Song of the Year award for her comeback single, Easy On Me.

"First of all I didn’t know that many songs were nominated for song of the year. I can’t believe that a piano ballad won up against that many bangers," she said as she accepted the accolade.

"But thank you so much. It is always a pleasure to be here. I always love coming home and the Brits is such a big part of my career since way back when I was a little foetus."

The singer broke down in tears back in January as she admitted her Vegas shows weren't ready.

"Listen, I'm so sorry but my show ain't ready," she said, "We've tried absolutely everything we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we've been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid.

"Half my team, half my crew are hit by Covid, they still are and it's been impossible to finish the show and I can't give you what I have right now and I'm gutted. I'm sorry it's so last minute, we've been awake for over 30 hours now trying to figure it out and we've run out of time and I'm so upset and I'm really embarrassed."
