Fans convinced Tiger Woods is preparing comeback as new picture emerges

Golf fans are convinced that Tiger Woods is ramping up his eagerly-anticipated return to the PGA Tour, after a new picture emerged showing the golfing great looking in great shape.

Woods suffered severe injuries last year, after he was involved in a high speed car crash the day after hosting the 2021 Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles.

The 15-time major champion was left with ‘open fractures affecting the upper and lower parts of the tibia and fibula bones’, resulting in extensive surgery.

Woods was then required to go through a hard-hitting rehabilitation in order to get back to full fitness, as fears continued to grow that he may never return to competitive golf again.

But those fears have since been eased, and an image has now emerged on social media that has given many golf fans the hope that the 82-time PGA Tour champion could well be planning a return soon.

An Instagram post by Pop Stroke - a restaurant and course designed by Woods - shared a photo of a gleaming young fan and aspiring golfer alongside the smiling 15-time major champ.

The image showed Woods looking in fit and fine shape, which got plenty of his supporters excited in the comments section.

One fan - @fairwayfunnies replied: “Holy goat those arms are jacked", whilst @mikeoconnor557 added: "Tiger looking great."

Speaking late last year, Woods did admit that he would sadly never compete on the PGA Tour on a full-time basis ever again, but would return on a part-time basis.

He told Golf Digest : “I think something that is realistic is playing the tour one day, never full time, ever again, but pick and choose, just like Mr. (Ben) Hogan did.

"Pick and choose a few events a year and you play around that. You practice around that, and you gear yourself up for that.

“And you play. I think that's how I'm going to have to play it from now on. It's an unfortunate reality, but it's my reality. And I understand it, and I accept it."

He did also reveal that he was aiming to return to St Andrews for the Open Championship later this year, a venue where he won the Claret Jug twice.

Woods commented: “I would love to play at St Andrews. There’s no doubt about it. My favourite golf course in the world.”

The 46-year-old will in fact return on the PGA Tour for the first time in 12 months this week, as he is back at Riviera, one year on from his life-changing crash.

Despite this, the American will not be out there competing but instead will be hosting the Genesis Invitational, just as he did the day before the car accident in 2021.
