Jack Whitehall has announced he and his girlfriend Roxy Horner are expecting their first child together. The comedian shared the news on social media as fans were quick to congratulate the pair who have been dating since 2020.
Sharing photos of the happy couple holding baby scan pictures on his Instagram account, the 34-year-old captioned the post: “And I thought I wasn’t getting enough attention when the dog arrived…”
The couple’s joyous news comes after they recently opened up about their devastating miscarriage.
In a recent interview, Roxy told Hello! that because of her miscarriage last year, they were reluctant about announcing this pregnancy to the world straight away.
"We had a miscarriage last year and so there was a part of me that was worried to open up too soon about this baby because I was so worried something would happen again and I didn’t want to have to kind of tell the world.”
The pair found out Roxy was pregnant again the same week her nan sadly passed away while on a trip to visit her parents in Australia.
"We found out the same week my nan passed away. There's a part of me that feels like my nan knew we were trying for a baby and maybe this was her gift to us," she said.
Fans were quick to flood the couple with sweet messages, with many eager to see what the comedian’s dad content would be like.
Instagram user @meganexford commented: “Your dad content is going to be absolutely hilarious! Welcome to the chaos world of small humans! Congratulations and good luck!”
On Twitter, @liannevalle said “Congratulations! Can’t wait to hear your parenting journey & all the hilarious stories!!”
@MrssDragonFly tweeted: “Huge congratulations to you both. A new series of travel with dad and grandad maybe?”
Another Twitter user said: “Can’t wait until 2054 when you do Travels With my Father.” Jack responded to this tweeting, “It’s definitely crossed my mind.”
Whitehall, who these days appears in Hollywood movies with The Rock and Emily Blunt, spoke to the MEN about the many years he spent living in Manchester.
The Fresh Meat actor said Manchester was where he’d spend the best years of his life.
He started his own comedy night, with the on-the-nose title Comedy Sluts at the now-closed venue Sub Space, off Oxford Road, and booked some impressive emerging talent.
“I picked Manchester because I thought that I’d come here, coast through it, and quit as soon as I could convince my parents that stand-up was a viable career choice,” he said. “I wasn’t expecting to come here and completely fall in love with it and have the best time of my life.
“Instead, I couldn’t quit it. After I started getting paid, I continued to live in a student house in Fallowfield on Egerton Road for two years. It was like the Fresh Meat house, but about 10 times worse," he said.
