Fans concerned for "old and weathered" Derek Chisora after recent training picture

A recent picture of Derek Chisora looking "old and weathered" has left boxing fans concerned for the Brit's health as he prepares for his fight with Kubrat Pulev.

Chisora is without a win since 2019 and has lost his last three fights. He came up short in back-to-back fights against Joseph Parker and was outpointed by now-heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk before that.

The veteran heavyweight was recently pictured alongside Johnny Fisher as he prepares to fight Pulev on July 9. It wasn't the best picture of Chisora and some fans have urged 'Del Boy' to hang up his gloves to save him from any more punishment in the ring.

One user wrote: "Del Boy starting to look old and weathered (like me)," with another adding: "Someone has face-swapped Del Boy with a recently deceased 90-year-old."

"I admire you Delboy but you need to stop getting beaten up for dough - don’t get me wrong you're durable and will give Pulev a good box but you will more likely lose and your welfare needs to be considered at some point, but saying that my hearts backing you," a third fan added.

A fourth put: "Del looks like he's been on a mad bender in Ibiza and not slept for days," with a final user writing: "Looks in great shape but for peaks sake, stop putting yourself through this torture now."

Pulev took a year away from the ring after his world title loss against Anthony Joshua but returned last month to win a decision over Jerry Forrest. Chisora has admitted he doesn't have a plan for his boxing future other than entertaining his fans in every fight he has.

"What is the plan? For me, my plan is my fans. Entertainment is the plan. That's what I like. I've lost so many fights, I've won things that I wanted to win but it's relevant to me. I prefer fighting, I wake up every morning to train and I still have that hunger for it," he told reporters.

"I get these younger guys who come in the gym to spar me and I see the fear they've got in their eyes by the time they get to rounds three or four. I'm still hungry and want to fight, I want to cause damage to people and entertain.

"No disrespect to [Pulev], but he waited a few years to fight for the world title and then when he does that's bull****. I know what I've got, I sell a product that people want to see and that product is war."
