Fans astonished by Pharrell Williams' real age as singer reaches milestone birthday

Pharrell Williams fans were left jaw-dropped after the musician celebrated a milestone birthday earlier this week.

The singer-songwriter has become one of the most influential music stars of the 21st century and seems to have been in and around the music scene forever.

That is because the Happy hitmaker celebrated his 50th birthday on Wednesday, emphasising his longevity at the top of the music industry as his career edges closer to a fifth decade.

Fans flocked to social media to comment about their surprise that the former N.E.R.D frontman turned 50 earlier this week, with his celebrity friends also paying tribute.

One person replied: "How is it possible that I appear older than Pharrell Williams?… Who is literally 50 years old…"

A music fan account commented: "Pharrell is officially 50 years old today. At this point, it is hard to imagine that he is actually that age."

Another fan tweeted: "Pharrell is 50 years old going on 12," while a third said: "Pharrell 50 years old still prob getting ID’ed for fags, while my kids are aging me like milk."

Pop superstar Justin Timberlake, who featured Pharrell on his 2003 hit Senorita, wrote on Instagram : "HBD to my brother @pharrell. I’ve been around for almost half of the 50, and I gotta say, you’re just getting started."

The former Voice coach is also a huge fan of fashion and in February, Pharrell was officially confirmed as the late Virgil Abloh's replacement at the iconic fashion label Louis Vuitton.

The Paris-based brand made its big announcement on the evening of Valentine's Day with Pharrell filling the role left behind by the legendary artistic director Virgil.

In the brand's latest announcement, they said: "Louis Vuitton is delighted to welcome Pharrell Williams as its new Men’s Creative Director."

They revealed that his first collection will be revealed next June during Men's Fashion Week in Paris.

The statement read: "Pharrell Williams is a visionary whose creative universes expand from music to art, and to fashion – establishing himself as a cultural global icon over the past twenty years.

"The way in which he breaks boundaries across the various worlds he explores, aligns with Louis Vuitton’s status as a Cultural Maison, reinforcing its values of innovation, pioneer spirit, and entrepreneurship."

Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO, said: "I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director.

"His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter."
