Live action adaptations of video games are a tricky thing to navigate and typically end up on the receiving end of criticisms from loyal fans.

However, fans of horror video game "Until Dawn" hoped for the best, especially after Sony announced that its live action adaptation will remain faithful to the video game's legacy.

Unfortunately, the newly released trailer for the movie has left fans unhappy.

'Until Dawn' Live Action Adaptation

Scheduled for release on April 25, 2025, the "Until Dawn" live action movie features characters that are different from the original game. Cast members include Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Odessa A'zion, and Belmont Cameli.

As seen in the trailer, the movie follows the premise of a group of friends dealing with a masked murderer while in a remote house. However, as Polygon notes, where the movie differs from the video game is that when all the friends die, they end up waking up earlier in the night and dealing with something different altogether.

All of a sudden, there are zombies in the story, as well as bits and pieces from different types of horror movies, including found footage and monsters.

Fans Are Not Happy

Needless to say, fans are very unhappy that the "Until Dawn" live action movie will be very different from the video game.
