Just two days after it was reported that the Los Angeles Rams were open to trading Ernest Jones, the team struck a deal involving the fourth-year linebacker. The Rams are trading him to the Tennessee Titans, getting a 2026 fifth-round pick in return. The Rams also sent Tennessee a 2026 sixth-rounder.
The compensation is minimal for a player of Jones’ caliber, which makes this trade even more surprising. He’s a starting linebacker who’s only in his fourth year, yet the Titans just got him for barely more than a bag of chips.
Fans were predictably shocked by the low return, with many criticizing Les Snead for getting so little in exchange for an integral player on defense. Here are some of the top reactions on social media.

You already know we got scammed for Ernest Jones, no need to see the comp

Rams and team media will spin this as they don’t value LB position, he’s been dealing with knee injury, would have commanded a large market, etc.
Jones was most important player on the defense after losing Donald. There’s a reason Donald told Jones, “this is your defense now.”

I knew the compensation would be bad, but this is pretty laughable https://t.co/aei7Rb91bw

Pick swap. Titans got a really good deal if Jones’ knee ends up being fine. This all happened unbelievably fast. https://t.co/XDB97iBaOt

Les is good at a lot of things, trades he is not. Consistently not getting back anything for quality players, and overpaying on players
