If you've ever felt fed up with your job and fancied doing something completely different or have found yourself longing to know what the world was like before social media, then a step back in time could be just for you.
Beamish Museum in County Durham has just announced new seasonal roles which are available at the open-air site for the coming season and among them are positions including rural life and mine work. The open-air museum captures bygone life up to the 1950s so those interested will be able to thoroughly immerse themselves in yesteryear.
The vacancies involved are 'engager' roles which basically means communicating with visitors in whatever area of the museum they're based in and enthusiasm will be a key part of the team member role. Training will be given and there are also opportunities for older teens - while two new top jobs are up for grabs too, with salaries at £60,000-plus.

The pay for the seasonal work, however, which can be up to 37 hours, will be £10.71 an hour for those aged 18 and over and pro-rata for 16 and 17-year-olds. Those interested must apply by the closing date of February 19.
Applications for the two newly-created roles is this Monday, February 6. The museum is advertising for a chief operating officer, which carries a salary of £60,000-£65,000, and a director of people and culture (£60,000 plus benefits).
Seasonal jobs on offer at Beamish
Transport engager - this is a job in the museum's Transport Team, working as a front-of-house engager to help give visitors the best possible experience. It will involve working within either the Steam Operations Team or Bus and Tramway Operations Team, transporting people around the museum.
Mining life engager - based at the 1900s Pit Village and Colliery Yard. Ok, so it might not be work down the actual mine but it will be spread out across the site, engaging visitors through its retail exhibits and outlets. A passion for North East history will help fit the bill.
Georgian and Rural Life engager - this will be based at such time-spanning locations as the 1820s Pockerley Old Hall, the 1940s Farm and the new 1950s Spain’s Field Farm, keeping visitors informed about the setting - as long as you don't mix up your eras.
1900s Town engager - again this would appeal to those with a passion for history - and just think of those costumes you can wear.
Food and beverage engager -Beamish's food outlets get very busy so a flexible can-do attitude is needed here, the museum says, in offering a warm welcome to visitors, helping prepare food, keeping areas and clean and operating till systems. Experience of working within a fast-paced environment will be an advantage.
Entrance Team member - a number of posts - described as an "exciting opportunity" - are available at the start of the visitor experience and they are, says Beamish, integral to the whole.
Cleaner - again a number of roles are up for grabs and they involve cleaning and litter control across the whole museum. Some shifts will include times outside the museum opening hours, such as 6am starts and some evening work.
For more about the roles see here. Completed application forms will need to be emailed by the closing date of February 19 to hr@beamish.org.uk and interviews are expected to take place in the week starting March 6.
The museum has also announced it has extended the run of its-house pantomime Dick Whittington, until February 12: see here.
