Fan Wearing ‘Arson Judge’ Jersey to Giants at Yankees Opening Day Game

Perhaps the most memorable moment of the MLB offseason was not any particular signing or trade, but one tweet with one unforgettable typo: the night that Arson Judge was headed to the Giants.

The tweet, authored by MLB insider Jon Heyman of the New York Post, was indelible for multiple reasons. Aaron Judge, of course, did not end up with the Giants as many had suspected he would, ultimately re-signing with the Yankees on a nine-year, $360 million contract. And there has arguably never been better comedic timing for autocorrect to rear its ugly head as the entire baseball world waited with bated breath for Judge’s decision.

But if you thought that was the last you’d hear from Arson Judge, you’d be sorely mistaken.

As fate would have it, the Giants and Yankees squared off in the Bronx for Opening Day on Thursday. And one fan stole the show by wearing a personalized Giants jersey, complete with Arson Judge’s name on the back.

Judge twisted the knife into Giants fans who might still be upset about him spurning San Francisco by homering in his first at-bat of the season. And while the sting of losing a generational talent might linger for a while, the legend of Arson Judge will live on long after we’re all gone.
