One fan truly experienced the wild highs and lows of The Hundred as he took a spectacular one-handed catch before accidentally striking a fellow member of the crowd in the face as he threw the ball back.
Last night, the Oval Invincibles fell 10 runs short in their chase of 167 as they lost to Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred. Both Sam and Tom Curran impressed for the Invincibles with 30 runs each, but Phoenix held strong thanks to the game-high total of 45 from Liam Livingstone.
However, there was another highlight that captured the imagination of fans online as the match unfolded. Moeen Ali crushed a huge six into the stands at The Oval and one fan made a stunning catch.
The man caught the ball one-handed to the applause of those in the iconic ground, before throwing the ball back onto the pitch. However, he hit the spectator seated in front of him in the nose with the follow through of his throw - and the commentators lost it.
“A catch has been taken!” The commentator excitedly yelled. “There we go. He is absolutely delighted.
“The white t-shirt, the moustache, and he’s just whacked someone in the nose as he’s thrown the ball back. He’s just thrown the ball back and punched the bloke in front of him!”

The commentators broke into laughter after realising what had happened. They tried to move past it but continued to crack up as the camera remained focused on the man seated in front holding his nose.
“It’s a brilliant catch - one-handed! He’s absolutely thrilled,” the commentator continued of the man who made the catch.
“He’s still holding his nose, that gent. It’s still there, don’t worry,” the commentator quipped as the camera continued to showcase the two men involved in the incident.
Sky Sports Cricket took to Twitter to show the clip of the incident, which read: “Ouch. A fan accidentally hit another spectator in the nose as he returned the ball after taking an incredible one-handed catch in yesterday's #TheHundred clash between Birmingham Phoenix and Oval Invincibles…”
