The wait is over and the Seattle Seahawks made their move in the 2023 NFL Draft. With the No. 5 overall pick, Seattle selected cornerback Devon Witherspoon from Illinois.
It is certainly a shocking move, as the common consensus was the Seahawks picking Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter, especially with the Houston Texans picking Alabama’s Will Anderson. In the end, it seems reports of Seattle being skeptical on Carter proved true, and went in another direction to fix their defense.
Of course, fan reactions online were… mixed, to say the least. Carter was definitely a popular potential pick, but it seems the 12’s are starting to realize they may have a better option.

2. No way I would have taken a CB or anyone who plays that far from the trenches at #5
3. Given how long it took to make the pick, I have to imagine no one else wanted to trade up for it.

The Seahawks just got one of the feistiest cornerbacks we've seen in a long time. He's going to fit in perfectly in Seattle and be an absolute tone setter for that defense.
