Fan-made Netflix Zelda posters starring Tom Holland and Emma Watson fool fans

Fan-made posters of a conceptual live-action The Legend of Zelda series, which cast Tom Holland as Link and Emma Watson as Zelda, are so realistic that fans will be disappointed to learn they’re made up.

Dan Leveille, who created the posters using artificial intelligence (AI) technology and Photoshop, shared them on Facebook and said: “The full cast of Netflix’s live-action Legend of Zelda series just dropped, revealing an all-star cast starring Tom Holland, Emma Watson, and Idris Elba!

“It looks like the series will bring together a mix of the franchise’s most beloved characters throughout the years.”

He quickly clarified that not all is as it seems, however: “(JK. Made with #midjourney, inpainting with #dalle, some facial correction using Tencent ARC, and a bunch of Photoshop).”

With Holland and Watson starring as the leads, Leveille also fan-cast Idris Elba as Ganon, Gemma Chan as Great Fairy, Sadie Sink as Malon, and Danny DeVito as Tingle.

He suggested Jameela Jamil would play Urbosa, Maisie Williams would play Saria, Meryl Streep would play Twinrova, and Steve Buscemi would play Dampé.

Leveille’s Facebook post has been shared more than 29,000 times, and has attracted more than 5,000 likes and 5,000 comments.

While many of those commenting praised the work and expressed how much they wish to see the idea turned into a reality, others seem to believe that the project is real.

Some Facebook users (who also appeared to skip reading the caption which explains how the posters were made), have declared the post fake news, accusing Leveille of trying to mislead them.

So, to clear things up for any Zelda fans hoping for a TV series inspired by the hugely popular video game: the posters are sadly not real.

There have been no confirmed reports that a Zelda Netflix series is in the works, and no news that Holland and Watson are linked to any kind of Zelda project.

For now, fans can quietly hope that Netflix producers have spotted Leveille’s Facebook post and are as convinced as him that such a series needs to happen.

Until then, Zelda lovers can look forward to The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, which is set to be released in May 2023.
