Fan-Made Batgirl Trailer Featuring Jenna Ortega Goes Viral

Jenna Ortega stars in a fan-made Batgirl trailer.

Batgirl is making waves in a new fan trailer featuring Jenna Ortega as the iconic heroine in a Gotham City adventure that never came to be. While Ortega is not officially cast as Barbara Gordon in the DC Universe continuity, this fan-made trailer by KH Studio showcases her potential in the role.

The trailer, which has garnered over a million views within its first five days, combines AI-generated and deepfake impressions of Ortega as Batgirl, along with Dark Knight-esque sound design and skillful editing. The video has sparked discussions among DC fans about the possibility of Ortega portraying the character in the future.

Despite the cancellation of a previous Batgirl movie directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, which would have starred Leslie Grace as Batgirl alongside Michael Keaton as Batman and Brendan Fraser as Firefly, interest in the character remains high.

Warner Bros. Discovery's decision to scrap the Batgirl project was met with disappointment, signaling a turbulent period for the DCEU. However, the establishment of DC Studios under the guidance of James Gunn and Peter Safran has ushered in a new era for DC's cinematic universe.

While the fan-made Batgirl trailer is a speculative endeavor, its popularity underscores the enduring appeal of the character. Although there are no concrete plans for Batgirl's future in the DCU at present, the evolving landscape of the franchise suggests that there may be opportunities for the character to return to the spotlight in due course.

For more insights into the lost Batgirl project, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah shared their thoughts in an interview with MovieWeb about their film, Rebel.
