Liliya Novikova: Poker player and famous Russian Instagrammer dies in accident at home

A well-known Russian Poker Pro and Twitch Streamer has been found dead in her apartment.

Liliya Novikova, who streamed under the name "liay5", was apparently electrocuted in her bath while using her hairdryer, according to Russian media reports.

An elderly neighbour found Ms Novikova's body in the bath, after her parents reportedly raised the alarm when they could not get in contact with her. All reports suggest her death was an accident.

Ms Novikova was well known on Twitch.tv, a live online gaming streaming platform. She had more than 15,000 followers on instagram.

Fellow poker players flooded social media with tributes Ms Novikova with Russia's Channel 5 reportedly calling her the country's "sexiest poker player".

PokerStar Ambassador Lex Veldhuis said: "she had such a good influence on poker/twitch community through her hard work and efforts."

Например, часто опп делает рейз и даже не ставит кбэт, а если поставить ставку, то легко сдается. Юзаем. 3. Время. Хоть это и относится больше к кэшу, но в разное время играют по-разному. Например, где я играю, больше все шахидничают с утра или в середине ночи. 4. Тип игроков. Если есть возможность, то вам лучше пробить и понять кто играет против вас. Потому что игра рега сильно отливается от игры фиша. Ваш кэп. 5. Стиль стола. Если ваш прошлый стол был пассивным, и вы легко могли стилить, то на новом столе у вас такая страта может не прокатить, потому что вы не один умник такой :) Советы все дефолтны, но многие про них просто забывают. Team Pokerstars Pro player, Liv Boeree commented saying: "Utterly heartbreaking. She was such a sweet, beautiful and talented girl who worked so hard to promote the game. Rest in peace lady."

Ms Novikova earned an engineering degree from Moscow's Bauman University and besides poker she enjoyed rowing and snowboarding.

She found herself immersed in online games from an early age, building up a large following on her Twitch.TV channel and she had close to $100,000 in live earnings, according to the Hendon Mob.

Her best ever live cash was $54,068, according to the online poker database.
