Famous hoarder's home and land for sale - and he's buried in the garden

A property and piece of land that belonged to a famous Yorkshire hoarder has gone up for sale once again - and you could be the new owner of the home that comes with a grave in the garden.

The former home of a man who appeared on Channel 5 's Hoarders has been put up on the market once again a ta guide price of £75,000.

Dubbed Peat Ponds, the now derelict property belonged to Jake Manglewurzel, who died last year, aged 83.

The madcap jester described himself as the town's "joker-in-chief", but tragically passed away of cancer in August last year - and was buried in the garden of the home.

Now, just over a month after the property was first put up on auction, it is back on sale once again.

A spokesperson for Auction House Manchester, who are dealing with the sales of the property, said that the first time round it "was sold" but: "The buyers could not complete the auction conditions. The days in which they were asked to complete did not go through.

"We did not get told why, but we were just told they could not complete it."

The abandoned property comes with a sizeable plot of land, and has been put on auction for the guide price of £75,000 - which is what it was going for in September.

The detached house at Salendine Nook, Huddersfield, is an unusual sale. However, it provides a unique opportunity for anyone who does not mind a dead body decomposing in their back garden.

In fact, the spokesperson for the auction house said that he has heard all sorts of what it could be turned into. He said: "With it being a derelict house, the buyers are free to do as they wish - we can have people make it into a museum or a garden."

Mr Manglewurzel was an inventor of sorts, and the hoarder nicknamed his home "Wonderful Wurzel Land" and requested to be buried on his land.

The badly fire-damaged abode requires extensive rebuilding works and refurbishment throughout. However, for any hopeful bidders, there is an opportunity to extend the property without planning consent.

Being sold exactly as it is - with the previous occupant included - the new owner will need to give the property some tender loving care and clear up the grounds.

For those who are interested in purchasing the property, they will need to to find information regarding the respectful treatment of human remains on unconsecrated grounds. Any details can be found on the government website.

The house is on the market with Auction House Manchester and the auction will take place via live stream on 25th October 2022 at 3 pm.
