Three men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary after a family was confronted by masked men who stole cash and jewellery.
Officers from Merseyside Police arrested the three men during search warrants in South Liverpool following an investigation into a burglary in Borough Road in Birkenhead earlier this year that left the family "very shaken". Officers from Operation Castle attended the three properties in Toxteth, Picton and Wavertree today (March 22) where three arrests were made.
A 30-year-old man from Toxteth, a 36-year-old from Picton and a 40-year-old man from Wavertree were arrested on suspicion of burglary and taken into custody. A significant quantity of cash and jewellery were seized.

Detective Inspector Tony O'Brien, who heads the Operation Castle Burglary Team, said: “As you would expect this burglary was very distressing for the occupants of the property that was targeted. Thankfully the victims were not seriously injured but were obviously left very shaken by their ordeal.
“Being a victim of a burglary can have a profound effect on the lives of victims, from the shock and unease felt by having somebody invade your home, the inconvenience of losing property, through to the often severe long-term psychological impacts. These three arrests are a very good result, however I would continue to urge anyone who has information in connection to this burglary to please come get in touch.”
Merseyside Police has seen offenders sentenced to a total of more than 500 years in prison and seen a year-on-year decrease since the launch of Operation Castle in 2018. Detective Inspector O’Brien added: “Information from the community is vital so we can bring the offenders to justice, so please keep coming forward and we will take action.
