Family's touching tribute to 'extremely kind' teenage son killed in car crash

Tributes have been paid to an 'extremely kind, generous and energetic' teenager killed in a car crash at the weekend.

Robert Christopher Adams, 19, tragically died when the vehicle he was driving collided with another at approximately 1.35am on May 9.

The A55 was shut following the crash for around nine hours, with a 40-mile diversion put in place, North Wales Live reports.

Today Robert's, from Kimmel Bay, devastated family have released a moving tribute to the teenager via North Wales Police, describing him as "a handsome young man who had so much to look forward to".

It said: "Robert was the son of Lorraine and Rickie. He had four sisters and one brother who he sadly leaves behind.

“He was extremely kind, generous and energetic. He always wanted to help others and was very generous with his time - he really did have a heart of gold.

“Robert was like any other young gentleman - he loved cars and loved to drive and was very pleased at recently getting a promotion in his job as a local tyre fitter. He was always looking to develop his skills and really wanted to succeed in his career.

“We would like to thank the Emergency Services for their attendance at the tragic scene of the collision. Our sad loss has created such a huge void in our lives which will never be filled and shall remain with us forever.

“Sleep tight Robert from all your loving family in North Wales, Rugby and Coventry.”

A GoFundMe page with a target of £5,000 has been set up by family friend Daniel Hilton to support Robert's family in paying for funeral costs. It has so far raised more than £700. It said: "The loss of such a young, bright, bubbly character has devastated the lives of both family and friends along with the many others who knew and loved him.

"The aim of this campaign is to raise money in order to help the family at this time, who now have the harrowing task of laying their son to rest. Funds will be donated to the family in order to help cover the costs involved at such an incredibly difficult time. Thank you."

North Wales Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the two-vehicle collision which involved a white coloured Vauxhall Astra and a yellow Volvo HGV.

Sergeant Raymond Williams said: “We continue to urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or anyone who was travelling between Bangor and the scene at around the time of the collision to contact us immediately to assist my team with our investigation.

"I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have been travelling on that section of the A55 just prior to the collision and who may have dashcam footage."

Anybody with dash cam footage or information that could assist with the ongoing investigation is urged to contact police on the live web chat or by calling 101, quoting reference number 22000314137.
