Family run team open new hidden 'lair' Tiki bar in city centre

A "unique" new Tiki bar is now open in the city centre, bringing a taste of a tropical getaway to Liverpool.

Tiki Hideaway Bar, based on Seel Street, is the second bar by the family-owned team behind Mean-Eyed Cat Bar - inspired by Johnny Cash - which is on the same street.

After experiencing success with their first venture, the independent team have devised a second outing, which aims to be a "private space for partygoers". With spring finally on the horizon, Tiki Hideaway aims to get visitors in the mood for the summer all year round.

The owners say the venue offers a tropical escape from the hustle and bustle of Liverpool's metropolitan city centre, with unique Tiki-inspired décor and a "paradise-inspired playlist" designed to bring the South Pacific to Merseyside. It also offers a wide range of classic and signature cocktails.

The venue is dubbed a "lair", hidden within the existing Mean-Eyed Cat Bar, though with its own exterior and entrance.

Spokesperson for Tiki Hideaway Phil Harrison said: "As a team we have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback we have received since the launch of the Mean-Eyed Cat Bar in Liverpool. As a family enterprise with links to this wonderful city, it made perfect sense to us to launch our very own Tiki Hideaway, which isn't just an addition, but its own stand-alone venue, with a unique stance and friendly vibe.

"Apart from our colourful Tiki décor, our team really make the Hideaway what it is - welcoming, dressed for paradise, and comprehensively trained to deliver first-rate guest service, these are cocktail supremoes with their own flavour."

The venue will be celebrating an 'Easter Weekender' event from Thursday, April 6 until Monday, April 10.

Mr Harrison added: "Liverpool is a very special place to us, and this season in particular, with events like Eurovision in the calendar, we look forward to welcoming guests from all over the region, as well as national and international visitors."

Tiki Hideaway is based at 71a Seel Street, Liverpool, L1 4AZ. It's open from Monday to Sunday, 9pm until 4am. For more information, click here.
