A family pet had a purrfect rescue at the hands of Dublin Fire Brigade after getting up to mischief.
Thankfully at least one of the kitty's nine lives were available after it decided to get stuck at a height leaving its owners very worried for its safety. And the daughter of one of Ireland's top obstetricians was left feeling very happy when it was brought to safety and cat-astrophe was avoided.
Professor Mary Higgins, who is also an associate professor and senior lecturer at UCD, shared a snap of the DFB crew who brought the pet to safety. She said: "Dublin Fire Brigade are heroes in my daughter's eyes after rescuing her cat tonight- very grateful for their good humour and kindness!

"Obviously I would have to be dying before I call any emergency service but this was after two hours of persuasion, cajoling, attempting to climb, ringing people, and an increasingly cold cat- now happily in his persons arms being fed!"
While DFB added: "A purr-fect rescue for a frightened feline. Without paws or hesitation firefighters from Donnybrook were able to assist with this family pet and prevent a cat-astrophe. On occasion, we assist animal rescue organisations when additional help is needed."
