Family pay tribute to "NHS hero" who died following crash

Tributes have been paid to a 'hero' NHS doctor who died following a car crash in Cardiff.

Bradley James, 45, from Cathays in Cardiff, died after the Hyundai car he was driving was involved in a collision on Maindy Road on February 6. He later died in hospital.

Dr James who worked in the emergency department (ED) at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant, was previously praised for going "above and beyond" for his patients by his colleagues.

The NHS doctor's family have also issued a tribute to their "amazing son, brother, family member and doctor."

They said: "Brad James was a young man who dedicated his life to helping others. His family, friends and his work family are devastated at his sudden passing far too soon.

“Brad was loved so very much by all who knew him. Anyone who met him would instantly feel at ease with his warm and down to earth ways. He was highly respected by all who knew him.

“Brad was an amazing son, brother, family member and doctor and he enriched everyone's lives. His dedication to wanting to be a doctor and work for others was his lifelong passion since a child.

“A truly beloved family member and NHS hero who will be greatly missed.”

Bradley worked in the emergency department (ED) at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant. Staff working across the Welsh NHS also posted tributes on social media to praise the talented young medic and offer their condolences to his heartbroken family.

Cwm Taf Morgannwg health board said Dr James, died on Thursday, February 10 after suffering a sudden cardiac event the weekend before.

Amanda Farrow, an emergency department consultant at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital who was one of Brad's colleagues and close friends, said: "The ED will not be the same without him and we will miss his infectious, hilarious laugh and his funny stories. Goodbye Brad."

Consultant physician Raja Biswas said: "We've lost a wonderful, dedicated colleague, friend and doctor. He went much before his time. A friendly relaxed guy with a smile on his face always . RIP Brad James. You will be missed."
