Family-owned Ayr pub on the market at reduced price as owners retire

A ‘profitable’ family-owned pub in Ayr is on the market at a reduced price.

The Wallace bar, located on the town’s Tam’s Brig, is up for sale at offers over £160,000 as the owners get set to sell on due to retirement.

Occupying a mid-terrace two storey property, the pub is formed over ground and lower ground levels with car parking and delivery space to the rear.

Inside, The Wallace Bar extends to; a public bar area, servery/prep area and disabled access WC on the ground floor and a lounge bar, cellarage/stores and ladies and gents toilets on the lower ground floor.

The bar, which is being marketed by Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, is located in a prominent roadside location in the Newton-on-Ayr district of the town, with the premises serving the local population with limited competition in the immediate area.

Shepherd Partner Kevin Bell said: “An established and profitable business, The Wallace Bar is well appointed to a high standard throughout.

“A family-owned operation, our client has reluctantly decided to sell due to retirement after 12 years of ownership.

“The owner operates the bar with a pool of four part-time staff and the business is 100 per cent wet sales based.

“Accounts information will be made available to genuinely interested parties after viewing, however, there are no rates payable in the current financial year and the annual barrelage before the Covid-19 lockdown was around 200.”

Having initially being marketed at offers over £195,000, offers over £160,000 are now invited.

Interested parties should contact the sole selling agent on 01292 267987.
