The family of tragic cyclist Tony Parsons have thanked volunteer rescue teams who helped search for him by donating cash in his memory.
The Tillicoultry grandfather went missing while on a charity cycle from Fort William to his Wee County home in September 2017.
However, he failed to return home and a frantic search was launched to trace him. The then 66-year-old travelled south on the A82 and was last seen at around 11.30pm on September 29, 2017, outside the Bridge of Orchy Hotel.
He then continued south in the direction of Tyndrum but Mr Parsons was never seen again.
This week, Mr Parsons’ grieving family handed over a cheque for £2,250 to three mountain rescue teams who assisted the search.
The cash donation was split between Killin, Arrochar and Oban mountain rescue teams.
Bill Rose, of Killin MRT, this week said: “Sincere thanks to Tony’s family and all who supported the family in raising a large donation for Killin, Oban and Arrochar Mountain Rescue Teams in thanks for extensive searches carried out in the Bridge of Orchy and Tyndrum area during 2017 when Tony was reported missing on a charity cycle trip.
“Our thoughts are with all who knew and miss Tony.”
