The family of Dean McCann are paying tribute to the young man after he was found dead on Saturday.
The 28-year-old went missing from his home in Drumcondra, Co Dublin, on February 5.
He was last seen at a Bank of Ireland ATM in Eyre Square, Galway city, shortly after 7am the following morning.
After numerous appeals from gardai and the McCann family, the search for Dean was stood down after a body was found on February 13 in Co Galway.
His sister Tara had issued a renewed appeal on Friday morning, just one day before her brother's body was recovered.
She paid tribute to Dean on Monday as condolences poured in for the family following the heartbreaking news.
Posting a picture of her brother, she wrote: "Our amazing Dean. My big brother. The light of our lives.. always and forever."
Other people close to Dean also paid tribute.
One person said: "I am absolutely lost for words! I cannot believe it! Rest in Paradise Dean - you will be truly missed and forever loved!
"I know you will continue to watch over your gorgeous family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."
Another person said: "I have no words. Heartbroken. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. Thank you everyone who shared my posts and helped to find Dean. Rest in Peace."
Gardai confirmed on Monday that their search for Dean had been stood down.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Following the recovery of a body in Dangan, Co Galway on Sunday, February 13, 2022, the missing person appeal in respect of Dean McCann, 28 years, has been stood down.
"An Garda Siochana would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter. No further action is required and no further information is available at this time."
