Family of Peter Tobin victim Vicky Hamilton urge people to remember her 30 years after disappearance

The family of murdered Scots schoolgirl Vicky Hamilton has penned a touching tribute on the 30th anniversary of her disappearance - urging people to remember her while forgetting her sick killer.

Evil Peter Tobin, 74, was caged in 2008 for the murder of 15-year-old Vicky, who disappeared from a bus stop in Bathgate, West Lothian, in 1991.

Vicky’s family took to social media to urge others to remember her life. Their post was liked more than 1000 times and shared by 800 people.

Vicky’s family wrote: “Feb 10th 1991. Vicky didn’t come home from Bathgate. We will never know the details of what happened that night but we know our sister was taken from us in the most horrid way possible.

“We always stated we wanted Vicky to be remembered, not the person who took her from us. So after 30 years, let’s remember her.”

Tobin is also serving a life term for the killing of Dinah McNicol, 18, of Tillingham, Essex. In 2007, the girls’ bodies were found in the garden of a house in Margate, Kent, that Tobin moved to from Bathgate.

He also raped and killed Polish student Angelika Kluk, 23, whose mutilated body was found under floorboards of a church in Anderston, Glasgow.

But police believe he may be behind numerous other young women’s unsolved killings.

Last month, Vicky’s dad Michael Hamilton, 70, revealed that he believes the cancer-stricken serial killer’s only chance of redemption was to tell the truth about other lives he’s taken.

Michael - who is penning a book with wife Christine, 59, about their nightmare - said: “We’re going to write a letter to him to see if he’ll react in any way.

“He’s never let on, but he’s done much more. The man is evil.

“It would be a good thing for him if he came up with some answers to let other people know where their loved ones are, because there are quite a few out there.

“They keep saying he doesn’t have much time left so there’s a few things we want to say.”

Christine added: “He must be lying in his bed thinking about redemption. He needs to decide. He’s either going to heaven or hell.

“He should tell us what he did. He might not remember all the names, but he’s bound to know what he did and where.”
