New Orleans police officer searches the area near a crime scene after a vehicle drove into a crowd on Canal and Bourbon Stree

The family of the suspected terror attacker who tragically killed 14 people in New Orleans has come forward to share their shock and disbelief at the events that unfolded. The brother of the suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, described him as a kind and soft-spoken individual, completely at odds with the actions he is accused of.

Abdur Jabbar and their father, Rahim, expressed their confusion and sorrow, stating that they never saw any signs of radicalization or violent tendencies in Shamsud. They described him as a caring father of three who never hinted at any troubles or extremist beliefs.

Abdur recounted the moment he learned of his brother's involvement in the attack, expressing his disbelief and sympathy for the victims and witnesses. Despite the heinous nature of the crime, Abdur emphasized that he still sees Shamsud as a human being and a brother, separate from his actions.

The family revealed that they had grown closer in recent times, with Shamsud offering guidance and support after their father's stroke. They shared a bond over their Muslim upbringing but never discussed extremist ideologies like those of ISIS.
