Family Of Murdered Houston Girl Calls For Stronger Border Security

U.N. Security Council votes to demand aid access for Gaza

The family of Jocelyn Nungaray, the 12-year-old girl tragically murdered in Houston, is pleading for a safer country and increased border security to prevent similar tragedies. Jocelyn's mother, Alexis Nungaray, emotionally expressed the need to protect children like her daughter from such senseless violence.

Prosecutors revealed the harrowing details of Jocelyn's final moments, where she bravely fought against her attackers, two illegal immigrants. The perpetrators lured her under a bridge, sexually assaulted her, and ultimately took her life in a heinous act of violence.

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg described the case as horrific, emphasizing the innocence of Jocelyn and the brutality she endured. One of the suspects, Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, was wearing an ICE ankle bracelet at the time of the crime, raising concerns about monitoring and enforcement.

Jocelyn's grandfather, Kelvin Alvarenga, called for reflection from lawmakers, urging them to consider the pain and loss experienced by families due to inadequate screening and enforcement measures. He highlighted the need for a safer country to protect innocent lives.

Describing Jocelyn as a fighter and a leader, her family mourned the loss of a promising young girl with big dreams. Alexis Nungaray vowed to be her daughter's voice and advocate for change, determined to prevent such tragedies from recurring.

The suspects, Franklin Jose Peña Ramos and Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel, have been charged with capital murder, but the family's plea for a safer country echoes beyond this specific case, calling for systemic improvements to prevent similar incidents in the future.
