Family of missing Ayrshire man pay tribute to 'one of the best' after body found in search

The heartbroken family of missing Ayrshire man Andrew Linton say a massive hole has been left in their hearts after a body was found in the search for him. The discovery was made around 11am on Sunday, March 26, in Eglinton Country Park in Kilwinning.

The body find came more than a month after Andrew went missing from the town on Wednesday, February 22. Formal identification has yet to take place but police have informed Andrew's family.

Following the heartbreaking discovery, devastated loved ones have paid tribute to the 43-year-old, saying he bent over backwards for everyone. Andrew's stepsons shared touching posts online about the impact he had on them.

Thomas Watson said: "Life is so cruel I can't even begin to get ma head around how much I'm going to miss you. You came into my life when I was young and helped me grow into the man I am today. You done everything for me and the boys growing up and you made my mum the happiest I've ever seen her.

"I love you so much Andrew a wish a had the chance to tell you how much you meant to me. You have left a massive hole in everyone's hearts. You were one of the best. I'm so glad of the relationship we had I'll do my best to take care of everyone but life's just not going to be the same."

Andrew was described as 'one of the best' (Police Scotland)

His brother Reece Watson added: "Love you to bits Andrew best step dad to me and my brothers and a great papa to my daughter. You bent over backwards for everyone of us and a will never forget that rest in peace Andrew."

Gutted pals also took to social media to pay tribute to Andrew, who was known as 'Inky'. Stu McBride said: "Lost for words….from friend to best mate to best man, brother from another mother.

"Stuck by me through the years, right or wrong he had my back, he’s the only person that would put up with me. Wish had been here for you as much as you were for me, there's only one inky from Castlepark."

Senga Crighton added: "Thoughts are with Alison and the boys and wee Myla also Hayley and the rest of their family. Sleep easy Andrew such a sad day for everyone sending much love safe in the arms of Jesus."

While Emma Sarginson wrote: "Absolutely heartbreaking. The family and the whole community have been searching tirelessly for Andrew. Condolences to the loved ones of Andrew. May he rest in peace."

There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding Andrew's death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
