The family of the British tourist killed with his pal in a smash on Ireland’s busiest motorway have broken their silence – to thank gardai and bikers for their help and kindness.
As dozens of bikers came from all over Ireland to attend Brian McFarlane’s funeral in Dublin, his daughter Emma told the Mirror last night: “I would just like to get across how amazing the Irish police and the biking community have been.”
Both men were on a motorcycle holiday around Ireland and were killed when they were struck by a lorry on the M50 on June 3.

The two pals were on their Harley Davidson bikes when they collided with each other and fell onto the road .Yesterday Irish bikers mounted a guard of honour for a cremation service for Mr McFarlane in Dublin.
After the service Emma said: “My family will never forget the kindness we have been shown by the Irish people. They are all a true credit to their country.”
Thank you.”
Both men were on Harley Davison motorbikes when they accidentally collided with each other – and fell onto the carriageway.
Then, as they sprawled helpless on the road, a truck that was travelling behind the pair had no chance to avoid the friends and slammed into them.
Both men suffered horrendous injuries and were killed instantly. It’s thought they were so badly injured from the crash that gardai had to use DNA technology to formally identify them.
The Irish biker community was so moved by the men’s death that they organised rallies in their honour.
They provided an escort for the remains of Mr Ingram as his coffin was repatriated to his family in Nottinghamshire on Tuesday – and yesterday they mounted a guard of honour for a cremation service for Mr McFarlane in Dublin.
