A family of four, including two young children aged 5 and 6, has gone missing and is feared dead after human remains were found on a property in Hudson, Florida. The property owner, 25-year-old Rory Atwood, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the case.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the human remains discovered on Atwood’s property have not yet been identified but are believed to potentially belong to the missing family. The individuals missing include 26-year-old Rain Mancini, 25-year-old Phillip Zilliot II, 6-year-old Karma Zilliot, and 5-year-old Phillip Zilliot III.
According to authorities, the family was last seen on June 12 near Nottingham Trail in Hudson. Mancini was picked up from her mother’s house by a friend and taken to Atwood’s residence on Nottingham Trail, where they were joined by Zilliot II and Atwood.
Sheriff Chris Nocco stated that the adults were consuming alcohol and an argument ensued between them. At around 2 a.m., Atwood allegedly contacted a friend in a frantic state, claiming to have shot someone. However, it took several hours for this information to reach law enforcement.
Deputies initially searched Atwood’s property with his consent but found nothing suspicious. It was during a subsequent search that human remains were discovered, leading to Atwood’s arrest on first-degree homicide charges.
The investigation is ongoing, and the remains have yet to be positively identified. The sheriff’s office continues to treat the case as an active missing-persons investigation until further information is available.
