Many happy returns to Helen McDonald who celebrated her 100th birthday with her loved ones at Peacock Nursing home on January 29.
All her family visited with some travelling long distances to see her.
Helen was born in Edinburgh and attended Broughton High School where she gained her highers.
She married Norman in 1941 and had two children. The family has now grown into eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Helen is immensely proud of every one of them and says her greatest achievement in life is “her family”.
Helen loved her independence and was a thoroughly modern woman in her day. She loved to knit and bake with scones being her forte along with going to the cinema.
Before retiring she worked for Lloyds Finance as a clerical assistant and then the NHS.
West Lothian’s Provost Cathie Muldoon and Lord Lieutenant Moira Niven spent time with the family and presented Helen with a card and message from King Charles and The Queen Consort with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
