"Our extended family are heartbroken and feel helpless at this shocking turn of events.

According to CorkBeo, emergency services were called to the scene of an incident at the Stryker building in east Cork. The Anngrove building is a major 3D printing facility for the multinational medical technologies company.
A second worker was hurt in the accident, which is believed to have been caused by an explosion on the roof of the building during routine maintenance work. The second worker was treated in hospital for less serious injuries. The Health and Safety Authority has launched an investigation into the incident.
A Stryker spokesperson told Cork Beo on Tuesday: "This afternoon there was an incident at our Anngrove facility which was managed by our emergency response team with support from local emergency services. Two people were transferred to the hospital and all others were safely evacuated from the facility.
"We’re committed to a safe and healthy work environment at all of our facilities. We’re working closely with the authorities to investigate the incident."
