A family home was left resembling 'a war zone' after a devastating blaze ripped through the house on Valentine's Day. As reported by Grimsby Live, Lana and Connor Scott were left with nothing after the fire which started in a tumble dryer.
The couple and their two dogs are now living in a friend's small bedroom while they try to come to terms with their ordeal. Their children are staying with Lana's mum.
Lana and Connor had lived in the house on Welholme Road in Grimsby for less than a year with their children Molly, 11, and Miles, aged four. The couple had just put the children to bed on Valentine's Day when their electricity tripped.
The children came downstairs and Connor went to check the electricity. He was met by flames, with the fire having started due to a fault in the tumble dryer.
Quickly, the couple got the children and dogs out of the house as they waited for the fire brigade to arrive. Lana said: "Within the space of about five seconds, we got out, but I can't even describe what I saw or anything, it all happened so quickly."

She continued: "When we saw the flames though we ran straight out the house, but one of the dogs ran back in thinking the children were still in there and Connor went back in after him. He ran straight past the firefighters and back into the house to rescue him."
Lana is struggling to come to terms with what happened that devastating night. "What am I going to do now? I've got no home and all my possessions are smoke damaged and the furniture burnt," she said.
"I've never seen fire travel like that in my life and now my house is condemned with no way of staying in it at all. We've only been here since July, but this is the only house I have loved and I'm absolutely heartbroken with what's happened.
"I still can't believe it's happened, everything we've built over the past five years, our entire lives, it's just gone. Now we're just trying to grab what we can for the kids, but Connor's clothes are all burnt, the situation just feels surreal."
Connor said: "We've only been here since July, but this is the only house I have loved and I'm absolutely heartbroken with what's happened. The place just looks like a war zone at the minute."
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Lana and Connor rebuild their lives, which the say they are very thankful for. "People have been so kind to us though, especially our neighbours. Everyone has been so helpful, the response from everyone has been lovely."
