These are the latest ECHO headlines this afternoon.

Mum heard kids shouting moments before 'whole house' went up in flames

A mum heard the sound of her children shouting as a fire ripped through her neighbour's house.

The woman, who asked not to be named, was about to take her kids to school this morning when they saw clouds of black smoke billowing from a house on Shellingford Road in Huyton. People could be heard screaming "get out" as the fire ripped through the "whole house", while residents in neighbouring properties were also forced to evacuate.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service sent five fire engines to the scene and all residents were out of the property when crews arrived, with no reported injuries. People were asked to avoid the area and keep their windows and doors shut.

Infections can result in a number of different signs, which may easily be confused with other illnesses, but improved detection methods including blood tests and poo sampling mean more cases are now being confirmed.

Fortunately, an interactive map shows the hotspots in Merseyside where lungworm cases have been reported. The map also gives you access to log your own as a warning to other dog owners.

Unfortunately, Dolly, the dog, became rather interested in Janette and Aljaz routine and went to get a closer look. However, as Janette was being spun she accidentally kicked Dolly in the snout.
