Family have two BMWs stolen and little boy's birthday presents snatched in burglary as they slept

A mum has spoken of her horror after discovering their home was broken into as her partner and three children slept, before stealing two BMWs off the drive and their little boy's birthday presents that were in the hallway waiting to be wrapped.

Mum-of-three Kayleigh Bell told the M.E.N how her and her partner woke up on Tuesday morning (October 4) to find their back patio doors wide open before noticing both of their cars had disappeared off the drive, along with the bag of gifts.

With her son's sixth birthday now in turmoil, she has said her family have been left 'really unsettled' by the ordeal after the burglars had somehow made their way into their Royton home in the early hours as they slept.

Greater Manchester Police have now issued an appeal following the burglary, with CCTV images of one male they wish to speak to being shared. The registration plates on Kayleigh's white BMW were also removed after the car was stolen.

And she said the trackers on her phone indicated that both of the cars were in Middleton, however, it became apparent they had been disconnected, removed and then dumped at the roadside.

She said: "It was at around 1.50am, the burglars have gotten into our house by snapping the lock on the back door. We were all in bed asleep and didn't hear anything.

"They have taken our car keys and my little boy's presents that were in the hallway all in a bag ready to be wrapped for his birthday. We woke up about 6am, came downstairs and saw the back door was wide open into the garden and then noticed both our cars were missing.

"We haven't been burgled before, and it is really unsettling to think people have been in our home whilst we all slept. My little boy couldn't sleep at all last night, and it's his birthday today."

Police are now appeal for information following the theft of the two cars from the family home, in Royton, Oldham. They have issued images of one man who they wish to speak to as part of their ongoing enquiries. No arrests have yet been made in relation to the incident.

An appeal by Greater Manchester Police read: "Police are investigating a report of a burglary on Hawkshead Drive, Royton, where two BMWs were stolen from a driveway, some time yesterday (Tuesday 4 October). Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to as part of their enquiries."

Anyone with information, or anyone who knows the person pictured, is asked to contact police on 0161 256 4521 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
