'MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU'
Rated PG for some action/violence and rude humor.
What it’s about: The origins of Gru as supervillain, in the groovy 1970s
The kid attractor factor: It's animated, plus those yellow, gibberish-speaking creatures seemingly have an iron-grip on our psyches.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Working as a team is better than going alone.
Violence: Nonstop cartoonish violence without any real consequences.
Language: None
Sex: Unfortunately, little naked Minion butts.
Drugs: None
Parents’ advisory: This is fine for most kids of all ages, but it's a lot of cartoon violence and peril. Might be too scary for very little kids.

'SNIPER: THE WHITE RAVEN'
Rated R for violence, bloody images, language and some sexuality/nudity.
What it’s about: The true story of a physics teacher in the Donbas region of Ukraine who joins a volunteer battalion and becomes a sniper after suffering a personal tragedy.
The kid attractor factor: Not much, this is a serious war movie.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Defend the country, defend the homeland, defend the home. Nothing is more important.
Violence: Bloody images of shooting, killing, war damage and the destruction of soldiers and civilians.
Language: Some swearing.
Sex: A sex scene that includes nudity.
Drugs: None
Parents’ advisory: This is a serious film about a real war. It's OK for teens but too mature for kids.
