A family of four are living in fear of becoming homeless as they face eviction from their home of 60 years, the Dail has heard.
People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd Barrett expressed concerns for the family's welfare to Tanaiste Micheal Martin in the midst of the housing crisis. The property's landlord is seeking a court order to evict the family from the home they have lived in all their lives.
They fear they will end up "living in their car" if they cannot not find another place to live. Mr Boyd Barrett told the Dail: “The landlord is seeking enforcement proceedings to evict them from the home they have lived in all their lives”.

“Because they are over the income threshold they are not entitled to social housing and they are not entitled to HAP. They need hope and at the moment the local authorities are saying tenant in situ doesn’t apply because they are over the threshold."
He added: “They can’t get HAP, because they are over the threshold, but they cannot afford the rents, not even close to the rents that are being charged in their area. I’m making an urgent last minute appeal because I am worried about their welfare."
Tanaiste Micheal Martin told the Dail an attempt would be made to pursue the case and added: “I don’t underestimate the anxiety and stress on that couple."
