Family dog left fighting for life after being shot by air rifle

A family dog was left fighting for his life with serious internal injuries after being shot and seriously injured in Co Fermanagh.

The PSNI have appealed for information following the incident in which the pet sustained three laceration wounds to the bowel from pellets fired from what police believe was an air rifle.

The dog was described as being in a critical condition following the incident this month in the Brookeborough area and remains under veterinary care.

PSNI Enniskillen confirmed they are investigating the incident and said: "Enniskillen Police are appealing for information in relation to a dog which is believed to have been shot by an air rifle in the Brookeborough area in early November.

“This incident has left the dog in critical condition, suffering three perforations to the bowel.

“If you believe you have any information which could assist us with our enquiries, please call 101 quoting serial number 944 of 18/11/22.”
