Family 'devastated' after 'cheeky and kind' teenage boy, 15, killed on railway tracks

The devastated family of a "cheeky and kind" teenage boy have paid tribute to him after he tragically died on railway tracks.

Tyler Butler, 15, was pronounced dead on October 29 after British Transport Police were called to the line in Deeping St Nicholas following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Tyler's death has left "an unfillable hole" in his family's lives as they say he will "live forever in our hearts".

His mum said: “The tragic loss of Tyler so early in his life is devastating and has left an unfillable hole in our lives.

"We are struggling to come to terms with the immense loss of our amazing boy – he’ll live forever in our hearts.

“He was a kind, cheeky and caring boy who loved cars, bike rides and gaming.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has come forward and offered their kind words and support.”

Flowers and tributes to Tyler have been left at a nearby bus stop in Deeping St Nicholas.

Alun Ebenezer, a headteacher at The Deepings School, where Tyler was a pupil, told LincolnshireLive : "At the heart of this is a mum who has lost her son and our thoughts are with her, as well as other members of his family and his close friends.

"As a school this week we've tried to support all our pupils and staff through this, particularly those who were closer to Tyler and who were affected most by what has happened."

A memorial book has opened at the school for pupils and staff to sign in memory of Tyler. "He was a lovely young man," he added.

"He was popular across all year groups and we are so sad that this has happened.

"The death of anyone is sad, but especially for a young person and particularly for somebody as lovely and popular as Tyler was. "
