Family appeal to bring ill Co Fermanagh woman home from Croatia

A major fundraising appeal is underway in an attempt to bring a Co Fermanagh woman home after she fell ill while travelling to Croatia.

Jennifer Tierney, 73, remains seriously ill in a hospital in Dubrovnik after she travelled there for a pilgrimage to Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She fell ill on the plane as she made her way there.

A familiar face to many throughout Enniskillen for her regular pilgrimages to the Croatian town, Jennifer is yet to have a diagnosis and a family friend has set up a fundraising page to help get her home. More than £6,000 has been raised so far as part of the appeal.

Sonia Rooney set up the fundraising appeal with the permission of Jennifer's family.

"Jennifer Tierney is a popular and familiar face in the Enniskillen community, held with high esteem," Sonia said.

"Jennifer and her husband regularly organise a Pilgrimage to Medjugorje. It was while travelling last Wednesday morning to Medjugorje that Jennifer took ill on the plane and had to be rushed to a local hospital in Croatia.

"She is currently very ill and a number of tests have been completed but no diagnosis has been given as of yet and she is awaiting repatriation. Her family are eager to stay by her side.

"Understandably this is a challenging and uncertain time for the Tierney family in every possible way.

"Any financial donation that you can make to support Jennifer and her family at this difficult time, no matter how small would be greatly appreciated and would provide the support that the family needs until Jennifer is back home where she belongs."

If you would like to donate to the JustGiving page to help Jennifer and her family you can visit it here.
