Grief-stricken family and friends have paid tribute to a young mother who was allegedly murdered in regional South Australia over the weekend, saying her death has left them "heartbroken".

The body of Synamin Bell, 26, was found at her Millicent home by police who were called to the Poole Street address just after 11pm on Saturday.

A 25-year-old man from Millicent, in SA's south-east, has been charged with murder and will face court on Tuesday.

Ms Bell was the mother of three young children, aged six, four and three.

Family and friends expressed their pain, saying her death had left them "heartbroken" and her children "without their loving mum".

Mr McGaughey said while he and his family were currently going through shock and grief, their priority right now was "looking after [Synamin's] children and keeping her memory alive".

"At this point, we're sort of putting our heads together and thinking how do we help the kids," he said.

"My mother has the children at the moment. They haven't been told as of yet what's going on. All they know is they're still on a sleepover at Nan's."

He said he and his sister were from a family of nine siblings, and while he had not seen his sister for several years, he had very fond memories of growing up together.

"She was an amazing kid, she was a happy kid. She was never a sad kid. She was always happy, she was always lively," Mr McGaughey remembered.

A GoFundMe page established by family members including Mr McGaughey described Ms Bell as a "beloved" person who strived to be the "best mum" to her children.

"Synamin was loved by all and those lucky enough to have known her were blessed by her generosity and loyalty," it said.

"Synamin had dreams of giving her kids the life and opportunities that we all hope our children have before them.

"She was trying her hardest with limited resources and support, trying to be the best mum she could be."

The statement said Ms Bell's death had "left a family in pain" and her "beautiful kids with so much life to walk through without her".

Police are continuing to investigate her death and yesterday said they expected to remain for several days at the Poole Street house, which has been examined by Major Crime detectives and forensic specialists.

Limestone Coast police chief Campbell Hill said the crime had left the local community with feelings of "shock and grief".

"This is a shocking situation, it is something that has impacted the community in Millicent, it is a small town, people know each other," Superintendent Hill said.

"This will reverberate and has reverberated across the community, across the Limestone Coast."

The accused man will remain in custody ahead of his appearance in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
