As we approach the two-year anniversary of the tragic mass shooting this Friday, 19 families of the victims have announced a significant development. They have reached a $2 million settlement with the city in relation to the incident. Additionally, the families have revealed their intention to sue 92 officers and the school district over what they perceive as a failed response to the shooting.
This news comes on the heels of the resignation of the new Uvalde school district police chief, just one day after taking up the position. The previous police chief, who was in charge during the massacre, was terminated several months after the shooting took place.
The incident in question resulted in the loss of 19 children and two teachers from Aldi's Robb Elementary School. The tragedy unfolded when the shooter barricaded himself in a classroom, leading to a prolonged standoff. It took a staggering 77 minutes for law enforcement officers to breach the classroom door and neutralize the gunman.
