Families have been full of praise for a new cycle track that has opened up on a park in Nottinghamshire. Work on the track at the Ilkeston Road Recreation Ground, Stapleford, began back in January.
It is a mini road network on which children and adults can learn and practice cycling. The mini cycle track officially opened on April 8 and since then it's been very ‘busy’.
The 200-metre network of mini roads includes road markings, zebra crossings, a roundabout and road signs. The cycle track is available to use 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

40-year-old Kay Kemp is mum to Blubell, 4. She says her daughter loves the new cycle track.
Kay said: “My four year old absolutely loves it, we’ve been here twice a day every day since it opened. She obviously loves it. She’s just turned four and doesn’t have her stabilisers anymore.
“To be honest I don’t normally come to this park, we just came for this. We live in Stapleford but this isn’t the closest one to us. We came here for the cycle track, it’s brilliant. We’re really impressed with it.”
Father of two Louis Smith, 36, said: “It’s such a good idea. We love it, I think it’s perfect for the kids to learn the road signs, get some confidence on the bikes. I think it’s really good.”
A mum of two who wished to not be named said: “It’s the first time we’ve been here. It looks really nice, it’s good. It’s been busy every time I’ve driven past. My older daughter really wants to come here, it’s definitely something we will visit more often.”
The cycle training track has been funded through Stapleford Towns Fund's £4.6million Safer Cycling Scheme. Chair of Stapleford Towns Fund board, Ian Jowett, said: "We're so pleased that the cycle training track is ready for local people to enjoy over the Easter holidays.
"The level of interest we've seen in cycling through our cycle hub has been huge and it's great to be able to build on this and give local people a brand-new local facility on which to have lots of fun practicing cycling safely."
