Families left in darkness after unplanned power cut

Homes were left in darkness this evening after an unplanned power cut in some parts of Knowsley.

Those in the L34 area, particularly in Longmeadow Rd, Guild Hey and surrounding streets, found themselves plunged into darkness shortly after 10.30pm on April 18. Many people were quick to jump to social media to ask what had happened.

Scottish Power confirmed they had no advanced warning of the power cut and only became aware of it at 10.39pm. Engineers were on their way but power was not expected to be restored until 1.45am.

The Scottish Power website said: "Our engineers are on their way to the local area to investigate the fault and our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible. We expect the power to be restored by 1.45AM.

"Once they arrive, or when we receive any update regarding the cause, we will be able to provide you with more information. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

The exact postcodes affected include: L340EU, L340HR, L340HT, L340HU and L340HW.
